It is the firm belief of the JCWS that children belong within a family. Every effort is made to place abandoned babies and those voluntarily given up by the mother with
adoptive parents. An extensive outreach programme is used to attract potential adopters and we put a great deal of effort into
finding and educating potential foster parents. We ensure that all our children have loving, caring adoptive parents who can cope with the responsibility and unique pressures of having an adopted child. At any given time, up to
1,600 children in foster care are under the supervision of the Society's social workers, who have been specially trained to support and sustain these placements.
We also offer counselling the biological parents of children where a re-unification of a child with their parents is possible, and
counselling is provided to pregnant women to enable them to make an informed decision about the future of their
unborn babies. |
National
and Inter-Country Adoptions: JCWS policy is to find suitable
adoptive parents within South Africa, but should no such family be
available, we currently have working agreements with Botswana, Finland
and Belgium.
